Blanc: I told you so

Paris Saint-Germain s stuttering start to the campaign has simply underlined how extraordinary last term was, according to coach Laurent Blanc.

After being challenged about his team s start to the season PSG have won four and drawn six of their first 10 Ligue 1 matches Blanc used the opportunity to say I told you so to the French football media.

PSG won their second consecutive Ligue 1 title last season, claiming it by nine points from Monaco, while they also won the Coupe de France, Trophee des Champions and reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Blanc argues the media and PSG fans did not appreciate the enormity of last season s achievements at the time and that the capital club s beginning to the 2014-15 campaign gives them context rather tha…

Stevan Jovetic back on Fiorentina radar

Serie A outfit Fiorentina are once again being linked with their former star Stevan Jovetic.

The Montenegro international is currently heavily marginalised at Inter and is thought to be looking for a way out of the club after playing only three Serie A games so far this season.

His impact has been reduced by injuries and poor form and Viola are ready to offer their former key player an escape route in January.

Fiorentina made efforts to bring Jovetic on loan during the summer transfer window, but the deal eventually fell through as Inter were unwilling to make a contribution to the player’s wages.

La Nazione reports however that Viola remain keen on the player who made his name playing for five years at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, before making a move …

Rooney wants Pogba back at Manchester United

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is excited about the potential return of Paul Pogba, who he believes has unfinished business at Old Trafford.

Pogba left United for Juventus in 2012 but the Premier League giants are reportedly closing in on a record-breaking deal to sign the 23-year-old.

The France international has gone on to win four successive Serie A titles, while he helped Juventus to the 2015 Champions League final.

However, Rooney feels Pogba has a point to prove at United.

The bruises, Rooney told the Daily Mail as he reflected on Pogba s first spell in Manchester.

He was one of those players who, when you trained against him, somehow he would just hurt you. A knee in your side, bump into you, I don t think he meant to do it, but…

Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial have been ruled out of Manchester United s Champions League clash with RB Leipzig.

Both forwards were substituted during Saturday s 3-1 Premier League victory at West Ham, where the Red Devils fought back from a half-time deficit to win through goals from Paul Pogba, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford.

Manager Ole Gunnar Soslskjaer had hoped the injuries would be short-term but he confirmed on Monday that neither Cavani nor Martial will travel to Germany for Tuesday s game.

There was some good news, however, with David de Gea available again after missing the West Ham win and Luke Shaw back in the travelling squad after missing a month of action with a hamstring problem.

David s back in, Luke is travelling, Edinson and…

Klopp suited to Bayern job – Watzke

Borussia Dortmund s CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke believes former coach Jurgen Klopp would make an ideal appointment for Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Klopp departed Signal iduna Park at the end of last term following seven successful years in which Dortmund regularly battled Bayern at the top of the German game.

Dortmund got the better of Bayern to clinch back-to-back titles in 2011 and 2012 before the Bavarian giants scooped three successive German crowns.

With Guardiola rumoured to be a target for Manchester City when his contract expires in 2016, Watzke told the Rheinische Post:  Jurgen Klopp is a candidate for every top club.

Klopp and Bayern would be 100 per cent suitable. You can t do much wrong at Bayern anyway  they win the Bundesliga wh…
