Bitesize Prediction: Lorient vs Lyon – 07/09/22

Market: Lyon win

Odds: 19/20 @

Looking to extend on what has been a stellar start to the 2022/23 campaign, Lyon will make the trip to Lorient on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Lorient might have found themselves at the heart of a relegation scrap last season, Les Merlus appear to have put those issues behind them. Last seen over the weekend picking up a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Ajaccio, Régis Le Bris s men have lost just one of their opening five Ligue 1 matchups. Making an immediate return to winning ways after that action-packed 5-2 defeat at the hands of Lens on August 31st, the Reds will be desperate to cause an upset on Wednesday night. However, winning just a trio of their last nine Ligue 1 contests on home soil continuing on from …

Europa League preview: Chelsea trail, Inter face elimination

Chelsea must overcome a deficit in the second leg if they to progress to the Europa League quarter-finals, while Inter Milan need a miracle.

Inter suffered a 3-0 defeat away to Tottenham Hotspur in their first leg, with in-form star Gareth Bale the chief destroyer again, re-living the memories of his Stadio Giuseppe Meazza hat-trick in 2010.

The Italian side have struggled in Serie A this season, sitting fifth in the table, and it is going to take a huge effort from them to get back in the tie and deny Tottenham an away goal, particularly with Bale in such lethal form.

Chelsea face a smaller hurdle after going down 1-0 at Steaua Bucuresti in their first leg, with the Romanian side taking it right up to last season s surprise Champions League winners.

Hiddink could prove to be Chelsea´s golden goose, says Lampard

Frank Lampard believes Guus Hiddink can mastermind an incredible late charge for the Premier League title.

Manchester United are seven points clear but Chelsea head to Portsmouth on Tuesday believing it is not too late to topple the champions.

Since Dutchman Hiddink came in as temporary manager Chelsea have won three successive matches and are playing with the sort of zest which might yet prove a threat to United.

Chelsea have beaten Villa away and Wigan at home in the league and defeated Juventus in the Champions League.

Lampard s late winner, controversial in the eyes of Wigan boss Steve Bruce, could not have been more vital.

United have got a big gap but it is nice mentally to be back in second position and you never know what is going to hap…

Traore: Barcelona did not give me a chance

Adama Traore has hit out at Barcelona after claiming he was not given a chance to succeed at Camp Nou.

The 20-year-old, now at Premier League side Middlesbrough, joined Barca at the age of eight and worked his way through the youth ranks to the fringes of the first team.

He made four appearances for the senior side but failed to hold down a regular place in the squad before being sold to Aston Villa in 2015.

He spent just one season at Villa Park, with the club suffering relegation, before joining Aitor Karanka s Boro.

Traore looks back fondly on his time in Catalonia but remains frustrated at the manner of his departure. Asked what he lacked to make it at the Spanish champions, he told Mundo Deportivo: I left because I was not given an opportunity. If I …

Bitesize Prediction: Rotherham vs Middlesbrough – 01/05/23

Market: Both teams to score

Odds: 8/11 @

In a Championship showdown that could prove to be another enjoyable affair, Middlesbrough will make the trip to Rotherham on Monday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Rotherham might find still find themselves sat in pole position to extend on their Championship status this season, Matt Taylor’s men are limping their way over the finish line. Last seen getting hit with what could be a costly 2-1 loss at home against Cardiff, the Millers open Monday’s showdown holding just a two-point buffer over the drop zone and knowing that they face a crucial battle here. However, although the Yorkshire-based outfit might have enjoyed a much-needed flurry when opening March, the Reds have come crashing back down to earth. Al…

Problems for the Hammers

West Ham faced London rivals Fulham at the Boleyn Ground today and could only manage a 2-2 draw. Now when I say that they only managed to draw against Fulham is not because I think Fulham are a weak side.

Their not but the fact that the Cottagers had new signing Kagisho Dikgacoi dismissed just before half time and the Iron were winning suggests they should have won the game comfortably. They were in complete control.

Instead despite their man advantage they managed to concede two goals early in the second half and were left chasing a point from a game they should have claimed three.

A sense of acceptance

I have seen West Ham play a few times this season noticeably against Liverpool and Manchester City. In the Liverpool game I felt they were unlucky to lo…
